Emirati businessman Khalaf Al Habtoor issued a statement through his account on the “X” platform, on Monday, in which he explained the truth of his desire to acquire the Egyptian club Zamalek. Al Habtoor said in his statement: “I followed with astonishment what was being circulated again in some media and social networking sites about my intention to buy the Egyptian club #Zamalek, or submit financial offers to invest in its football company.”
He added: "I would like to clarify that this news is completely incorrect, and has no basis in truth, neither remotely nor remotely. I have not made any offer to buy the club or invest in it, nor have I entered into any negotiations in this regard, and everything that is published about sums of money or alleged agreements has nothing to do with the truth."
Khalaf Al Habtoor said: “I am a fan of sports, and I have all respect and appreciation for the ancient Zamalek Club, and for all Egyptian sports clubs and their fans. I am also always keen to support Egyptian youth and encourage their achievements, which I have expressed practically through our initiatives to support sports, including honoring the Egyptian football team after its honorable performance in the World Cup.” The Emirati businessman continued: “Supporting sports and youth is one thing, and investing in and managing football clubs is another thing entirely.
I do not have investments in this field, and I do not claim to have the necessary experience to manage and develop sports clubs, and I have no plans to enter into it.” He asked the media to “seek accuracy before publishing news related to my name or my projects and investments, and not to circulate incorrect information as facts.”
He concluded: “All my love and appreciation to the sister Arab Republic of Egypt and its dear people, and I wish Zamalek Club and all Egyptian clubs continued progress and success, and Egyptian sports more achievements and brilliance.” The White Knight team officials had called for the regular general assembly to be held on Tuesday, December 8, to discuss the file for establishing the new football company and amending the ownership percentage.
The Zamalek Club said that several topics will be discussed during the General Assembly, including amending the club’s percentage in the capital of the Zamalek Company, to be less than 51% and no less than 40%, and the rest of the shareholders, members and investors (Egyptians and foreigners), will have the remainder of the company’s capital shares. White Knight team officials, including Hisham Nasr, had previously revealed the existence of an offer from a Gulf investor to invest in the club.
