On Sunday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi expressed his wishes for a speedy recovery to Pope Leo Al-Sisi said, in a blog post on his official social media accounts: “I received with great emotion the news of the emergency health situation that befell His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, Pope of the Vatican, and I would like to express my sincere wishes to His Holiness a speedy recovery.”
He added: "I pray to God to grant him good health and well-being so that he can continue to play his role aimed at supporting efforts to bring peace and stability throughout the entire world, and to promote understanding, tolerance and dialogue between peoples and religions." The Vatican had stated that Pope Leo XIV would leave the hospital on Saturday, four days after undergoing surgery to treat lung cancer, and that he would gradually resume his duties during the recovery period.
The Pope, who is the first American to hold this position, was admitted to Gemili Hospital on Tuesday, where doctors removed a lung nodule that turned out to be lung adenocarcinoma, which is the most common type of lung cancer.
